Rawlings Quatro Pro

Quatro Pro Reviews

The Quatro Pro was introduced by Rawlings late in the 2017 BBCOR baseball season. It is, in some respects, the next generation of the Rawlings Trio bats.

In 2019 Rawlings produced a USSSA and USA version as well as changed the name to the Quatro Pro. Today, the 2021 Rawlings Quatro Pro stands as a marquee bat in the light swinging two-piece composite BBCOR bat space.

You can read each of our reviews and see the progression of the bat below.

2021 Rawlings Quatro Pro Review

We took the 2021 BBCOR and USA Rawlings Quatro Pro for a spin. After four hitting sessions and three different hitters over 500 hits, we put this 2021 Rawlings Quatro Pro review together.

Our hitters like the flexible handle–although not as flexible as last year—huge barrel, and light swing of the 2021 Rawlings Quatro Pro. That holds true for both the USA and BBCOR versions of the bat. The Lizard Skin grip is a nice touch and the non flared handle was preferred by 2 of the 4 hitters.

2021 Quatro Pro Model Tips

The Rawlings Quatro Pro in BBCOR or USA is made for the player that wants a huge barrel profile, light swing and a flexible feeling on contact. In terms of performance, the bat does as well as any in its class. The bat’s sound is hollow. For some, the more flexible handle won’t be preferred—they’ll like the stiffer feel of a single piece or tighter two-piece like the META. But, for those base hit type players that want the best Rawlings has to offer, the Rawlings Quatro Pro is it.

2021 Rawlings Quatro Pro Review

Aside from the paint job, there are not any noticeable feel and performance changes from the 2020 "Cherry Bomb". Still a huge barrel on a skinny handle with some Lizard Skin grip to boot. However, compared to the 2019 and 2018 versions of the bat there's been considerable changes. The bat feels different than that yellow glow stick which, although had a propensity for an early break, sure hit the ball well. If it were us, we'd be perfectly happy with the 2021 or 2020 Rawlings Quatro for that hitter that preferred a two-piece composite with a big barrel and lighter swing. This bat in the right kid's hands would do some damage.

2021 Rawlings Quatro Pro Review

The USA Quatro for 2021 is one of the very few to be released. Many other model lines, inside and outside of Rawlings, got pushed due to COVID-19. It's drop 12, 10, and 8 are great solutions to the otherwise bare market. The bat swings light for its class has a massive barrel and flexible handle. The drop 12 is tough to impress--but we don't know any drop 12 bat's that are impressive. There's rarely enough weight behind a drop 12 bat to do any real damage. The bat sings in the drop 8 space and we'd encourage anyone on the cusp of the drop 10/8 to see if they can't go to the drop 8 in an inch shorter over an inch longer in a drop 10. That more compact weight distribution in the drop 8 gives the bat more punch and more durability. It is worth the jump if, and make sure it is an 'if', the player can swing it well. The best bat is never on the one in the wrong size.

2020 Rawlings Quatro Pro Review

Last Updated: November 12, 2020 | by Bat Digest Review Team | @BatDigest

Our 2020 Rawlings Quatro Pro review consists of hitting with the USA, USSSA and BBCOR versions of the bat. Our hitters thought the USSSA and drop 10 USA versions are highly recommendable. The BBCOR version, one of our favorite BBCOR bats in previous years, fell short this year with its feel and performance lacking compared to the 2019 and 2018 versions. The Drop 12 USA version is terribly light, maybe too much so, and sounds broke–although it’s exit speeds were decent for a drop 12.

Quick Quatro Pro Review

Our hitters liked the big barrel, and length afforded by the drop 12 of the USA bat as well as the sound of the new 2020 Rawlings Quatro PRO BBCOR Bat. The USSSA bat also got good marks. The Lizard Skin Grip, looks and barrel size were helpful too. One of our main hitters is a HUGE Quatro BBCOR fan and thought the 2020 Quator PRO felt just like the 2019 Quatro. It should as it is, pretty much, the same bat.

2020 Quatro Pro Model Tips

The barrel is massive on the USA versions of the bat. The drop 12 gives is a remarkably light swing and, by our measurements, it is the largest barrel per swing weight on the market. It reminds us of the old Combat barrels. The massive sizing options in each league (USSSA, USA and BBCOR) give plenty of serious hitters a chance to find their right Quatro Pro.

Those who need more length due to weight restrictions should really like the drop 10 type feel this drop 12 bat has.

2020 Rawlings Quatro Pro Review

In terms of swing weight, barrel size and hot out of the wrapper performance, the 2020 Rawlings Quatro PRO BBCOR bat is fantastic. The bat has blazing fast exit speeds---among the best in the industry. We think it does a great job on lower swing speed type hitters or younger guys trying to get as much bounce as possible. Those who swing bigger bats, like a 34-inch, might prefer something a little more stiff. But, if you're a smaller hitter looking for as much gumption as possible at the plate then we suggest a 33 or 32-inch BBCOR Rawlings Quatro Pro.

2020 Rawlings Quatro Pro Review

The 2019 Rawlings Quatro Pro struggled with durability problems. It does, like the DeMarini CF, break more often than others---or so the internet vibes would tell us. But, unlike the CF, it never really got the reputation as a ball killer. Instead, it was a decent bat that broke often enough to avoid. As such, it got less than good ratings across the internet in the USSSA space. For 2020 it does not appear anything changes in the barrel. However, there are some upgrades to the end cap which can, in fact, improve barrel durability. Time will tell if the 2020 has better durability ratings than the 2019. In any event, we suggest you buy it from legit vendors that can offer a real receipt for a warranty.

2020 Rawlings Quatro Pro Review

If you are looking for the premier bat in the drop 12 USA space then the Rawlings Quatro Pro should be right in your wheel house. Expect a real smooth smash even on bad hits as well as a huge barrel and ultra light swing weight. It is, save an Easton ADV 360 coming out later this year, the only drop 12 bat in the USA space. If it is a drop 10 or drop 8 bat you need then the Quatro Pro for 2020 has some options too. Don't expect amazing performance from this or any USA bat. Our general sense has been that aluminum bats are a much more reasonable purchase this early in the USA bat game. To date, no company has really shown the composite world of USA bats to be a solid bet. If you want/need a composite barrel in USA then the Quatro Pro in an drop 10 or drop 8 should be as good as any.

Rawlings looks to improve upon the durability of their flagship bat with the 2019 Rawlings Quatro Pro. The BBCOR version of the bat was our favorite bbcor bat in 2018.

The price point compares to other bats of its type (two piece composite). Generally, exit speeds were above average with the BBCOR outshining everything.

2019 Quatro PRO Model Tips

We think the 2019 Rawlings Quatro is a great combination of the 2017/18 version and the newer 2020/21 versions. That is, it has the same kind of feel as the 2017 but has more durability than the 2020/21 version. That might be more perception than reality. But, in fact, the 2019 Rawlings Quatro is our favorite Quatro of the bunch.

2019 Rawlings Quatro PRO Review

The BBCOR Quatro runs one of our favorite BBCOR bats for 2019. We love the exit speed and feel. The sound is right where most kids like it. It was in the upper echelon of exit speed performance. Unless you want a single piece bat, or need something with significant end load we have no doubt you'll love the BBCOR Rawlings Quatro Pro.

A light swing, big barrel, great feel on hits and mishits, the USSSA/Big Barrel Quatro is built for the top of the lineup kid that gets on base a lot. Smaller kids in the latter part of the line up will like it too as it is forgiving on mishits and will help them find as many pitches as possible. Huge barrel, good pop with the right swing speed.

The 2019 Rawlings Quatro made a huge name for itself in the 2018 LLWS. Kids loved the huge barrel and the great feel on both hits and mishits. The price was for a top shelf bat and the durability, for the 2018, was questionable. But, the changes in the bats 2019 construction appear to have rectified that. Most will consider this the best two piece composite USA Bat for 2019.

Our bat has been used with several different types of hitters and their feedback was gathered. That information, combined with our experience of the 2017 Rawlings Quatro, goes into the following 2018 Rawlings Quatro Review.

2018 Quatro Model Tips

Very few bats have wowed us with their performance in the BBCOR space. The 2018 Quatro does specifically because of its ability at low impact speeds. Any player, especially smaller ones, could reach top levels of performance and trampoline with the bat. The major downside, of course, is the bat’s durability. Higher swing speeds and bigger players, hoping to get the same advantage smaller ones were, destroy this bat over and over again. (A fair number of smaller hitters did too).

2018 Rawlings Quatro Review

The idea of a good sized barrel, little to no feedback on the hands during mishits, and a balance point found in the balanced space is exactly what most kids want to swing. The bat wins our best BBCOR Bats for several reasons. It's exit speeds are phenomenal, its feel on hits and mishits feels perfect, and the barrel is plenty big. The only draw back is that it is not very durable. But get it with warranty, and you'll love it.

2018 Rawlings Quatro Review

The USSSA/Big Barrel version of the Rawlings Quatro for 2018 is decent. For its class of bat, a two peice composite with a big barrel, people do like it. In the exact Big Barrel space more prefer a bat like the CF Zen. But, if you want an off the beaten path sort of bat, yet still want to stay in the elite two piece composite space, the Rawlings Quatro Big Barrel is as good as any.

The 2018 Rawlings Quatro USA Bat was likely he surprise of the season. People loved the light swing, big barrel and really fantastic exit speeds. It did suffer from serious durability issues. But those are part and parcel of bats that also have great trampoline. And the Rawlings Quatro in a USA bat for 2018 was no exception. Really a great bat with huge pop and one of our favorite hits in the USA Bat space.

2017 Quatro Model Tips

The 2017 Rawlings Quatro is the same as the 2018 Rawlings Quatro. This bat was only produced in BBCOR and was a late release. It was also a limited run production and considering the bat has a propensity to break it is a very rare find. However, it’s a legit bat and worth picking up if you can find one but don’t be mad at us when it breaks. Until that time, however, it will drop bombs.

2017 Rawlings Quatro Review

The Quatro is built with a wide swath of players in mind. Players who prefer massive sting dampening and as much barrel size per swing should be happy with this choice. Although not a budget conscious choice, its price point is comparable to other bats in the top shelf composite space. It is missing some sizing we'd like to see. In particular, a drop 8 and drop 5 in the big barrel space, and the 2 5/8 version, which isn't available at its release date (8/1/2016). These sizes may be coming soon. The Quatro is not for players looking for massive power or hoping to recreate a wood bat feel. The bat's connective pieces (the outside collar and inside connective design) allow for a lot of flex at contact and, as such, contact rarely feels bad. Some elite level hitters actually prefer more feedback. And, some argue, more give at contact actually decreases potential power.

2017 Rawlings Quatro Review

We have had a ton of fun hitting with these 'glowsticks', as they've affectionately been dubbed on social media. Younger players are attracted to the bright colors, monster barrel and lights swing like mosquitos to a bug lamp. BBCOR hitters immediately appreciate the Rawlings name and light swing. In cage work at least, no one has yet to claim the bat isn't un fuego. It sounds great and with a good swing, hits them flat. Younger players who need a light swing appeared to have more success and better feedback with this bat than others. Stronger hitters with a little more time under their belt, at least in the senior league space, had better success with a drop 8.
