The Louisville Slugger Select is a two-piece hybrid bat that serves as Sluggers’ middle-of-the-road performance bat. Over the years the swing weight has changed a bit. Mostly, in BBCOR, it’s built for a heavy-hitting high school or the collegiate kid that wants hot out of the wrapper performance, a reasonably stiff feel, and a big barrel. In the years they created it for the USSSA or USA space it’s a durable bat with a good feel and a real value buy.
The 2022 Slugger Select PWR hasn’t changed since it’s 2020 version, but that doesn’t matter because it is fantastic. You’ll find, even today, kids at all upper levels of the sport crushing balls. In a world where bats like The Goods and Voodoo get all the love, a good hard look at the 2022 PWR Select from Slugger for that stronger upperclass man can be a real steal.
Louisville Slugger’s 2021 Meta PWR is a two-piece hybrid bat with an end-load. The bat replaces the 2020 bat with the same name and is only changed by the colorway from blue to red. Our bigger hitters like heavier bats with an aluminum barrel and a stiffer feel. The Select PWR checks those boxes. Players looking for something like The Goods but aren’t interested in that will find solace because many college players swing the Select.
This comprises our 2020 Louisville Slugger Select and 2020 Louisville Slugger Select PWR review. The former (no “PWR”) is a balanced swinging drop 10 and 8 USA hybrid bat as well as a VERY end loaded drop 5. The later (with the “PWR”) is a BBCOR version of the bat that is the next generation of the end loaded 719 Select. Both bats, the Slugger Select and Slugger Select PWR, comprise Sluggers’ 2020 two piece hybrid line. We hit both bats for this review, compared exit speeds and swing weights to previous years and write this 2020 Louisville Slugger Select Review.
The 2019 Louisville Slugger 719 Select is a hybrid bat that serves the two piece space well.
The 718 from Slugger is a remarkably endloaded two piece hybird bat built for a strong that likes the hot out the wrapper feel of an aluminum bat but prefer the more forgiving swing of a two piece bat.
We spent 2 hours in the cage and 1 hour in the field hitting with the 2016 Louisville Slugger 716 Select. We also spent another 2 hours reading reviews from other players and deciphering message boards that discuss this bat. In that 5 hour time, we found the 716 Select to be a lighter swinging hybrid bat built hot out of the wrapper for players who consider themselves occasional power hitters and, due to it’s focused barrel, know how to hit a ball well.
The 715 Select from Louisville Slugger is part of their 2015 top shelf bat line.
