General Recomendations

The Goods One Piece is a high-priced single-piece alloy bat that has good play with hitters that like single-piece feels and light swings. It competes well with a bat like the Voodoo One although it doesn’t get the same time of fan favorite.

OVERALL/10
The drop 10 USA The Goods One from Demarin isn't anything to get too excited about. However, it will fit a large number of hitters and meet the maximum standard on well hit balls. The barrel profile isn't big, and the stiffness can hurt the hands on mishit balls. But, the price is more reasonable and the serious rec player could find a lot of success with this light swinging single piece alloy from DeMarini's 2022 lineup.

Overall Ratings

The overall rating uses seven different weighted metrics to determine our overall score. Half of total rating comes from the player and our exit speed tests (Player Rating: 25%, Performance: 25%).The other categories are Relevance (20%), Demand (10%), Durability (10%), Resell Score (5%), and Tech Specs (5%).

*: When a bat is denoted by a star (*) it is a preliminary rating. Expect it to be updated as we learn more about the bat and gather more data.

(PlaRa) Player Rating: We measure player rating from user reviews. Those users include our own hitters that we test at the lab as well as reviews we find online.

(ExVe) Performance: Performance measures the exit speeds and distances we capture in our hitting lab with HitTrax using these bats.

(Relv) Relevance: We measure the number of sizes and the MOI of the bat. Bats with a wider range of options get a better score.

(Dmnd) Demand: Demand is measured by consumer sentiment and the buzz around the bat.

(Drb) Durability: A bat’s durability is measured by user reviews as well as feedback from manufacturers.

(ReSl) Resell Score: Based on the price the bats go for used. Higher prices mean greater user demand which means, generally, a better bat. A resell value closer to its original price means a higher score.

(Tech) Tech Specs: We rate the bat on its technological advancements from previous years and compared to the industry at large. This is our chance to reward companies who are trying to innovate.
MOI
MOI or Mass Moment of Inertia is a measurement of bat swing weight. This quantifies how difficult it is to swing a bat. The industry often refers to this as things like End Load or Balanced but those words have been overused to the point of meaninglessness. We measure the actual swing weights of each bat we test using the industry-standard pendulum period, balance point, and scale weight. You can read more about that here.
Price
The price is the original MSRP price of the bat.
Type
The types of bats are single-piece alloy (SPA), two-piece composite (TPC), single-piece composite (SPC), hybrid (Hyb.), and wood (Wood). Hybrid bats are made of composite handles and alloy barrles.
Date
The estimated date the bat began distribution.

Bryan A. says:

Just wondering why the 2022 The Goods One Piece USA Drop 5 bat has a much lower rating than the others The Goods bats.

Brian says:

Hey Bryan,

Thanks for pointing that out. It looks like there was an error in our input so we’ve corrected it.

David says:

The 2021 The Goods One Piece Drop 8 USSSA is my son’s current bat (30/22). He loves it and has had a lot of success with it (5-6 HRs and many more doubles). I would say the 30/22 is his perfect size right now.

However, I would like to take advantage of any Black Friday deals that may be around the corner to buy his next bat. My son is 5’0.5″ and 110 lbs. He turns 11 in three months so my guess is he’ll probably be ~5’2″ when next season rolls around. He uses a wood bat during the offseason (30/24)

I’m bouncing around a some ideas:

1) Buy the next size up (31/23) in the 2022 Goods One model year since the 2021 is sold out. I noticed though that the 2022 model is not as highly rated as the 2021 even though it appears to be the exact same bat(?) with a different paint job.

2) Buy a CF or Cat 9 Connect in a 30/25 might be a better choice as he would still have his 30/22 for cold weather/back up if two piece breaks/lighter option).

3) Wait and begin 2022 with the current bat.

I want to make a smart buy & avoid something that’s too big for next season.

Thanks!
Sincerely,
-“Over Analyzing in Illinois”
